Robot, not ROBOT

I recently learned that the word "robot" is not an acronym.  I had assumed that, like "laser", which is short for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation", robot was a scientific coinage, but in fact it’s an early 20th century neologism from the Czech word "robota", meaning "forced labor".

Hands off the shift key, folks!
