Today I went to see the Seahawks squeak by the Falcons in the final regular season game. The Falcons scored a touchdown on the last play of regulation to come within two, and just barely missed the two-point conversion which would have sent the game into overtime. Talk about the Seahawks nearly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
But it was exciting to be there and the fact that the Seahawks were in the playoffs regardless took some of the edge off the game (both good and bad — I wouldn’t have wanted to have been around some of those fans if this game was truly do-or-die).
The fact that the Falcons barely lost with Michael Vick on the bench for most of the game just shows the gap between the truly superior teams in the league and the ones that get into the playoffs by default. I’ll be surprised if the Seahawks survive the game against the Rams next week, even with home field advantage.
